But artwork has always been a hobby of mine and I usualy stick with drawing abstract tribal design fan art, and other abstract projects involving charcoal, pastels, watercolors, and some digital art. I'm trying to assemble a profile for the future and get my name on the street as a local artist to some degree or another. I'm sorry that i don't have any uploads right now. I hope to get some work posted in the near future

My works of art explore nature's dramatic pattern, bold shapes and a vivid color palette with oil as my medium of choice. I enjoy the relationship between the elements within each painting which can lend a touch of whimsy and a hint of a story that can change with each viewer. My work offers an window into an uncommon world. A world that we as humans may catch glimpses of or sometimes hear or read about but rarely see in detail. My goal is to create a porthole for the viewer to experience nature's awesome and unique beauty. Mankind as a whole feels superior to all other living things. My intention is to help people recognize the importance of all life that we share this planet with. In this high tech age I feel that humans have much to learn about our natural world and it is very rewarding for me to be able to help teach them through the images that I create.

  • Tad McKillop
    Ann Arbor Area

Tad McKillop was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1965. He was interested in making art and pretty much all things mechanical since early childhood. In 1985, he began studying figurative sculpture at the University of Michigan and found his passion not only for creating the figure but also the entire casting process. It seemed a natural combination of the two things he loved the most, art and creative problem solving involving tools and construction. Upon graduating in 1988, he apprenticed for Louis Marinaro and continued to learn more about the process and the daily operation of a sculptor's studio. Tad received his MFA in 1992 from the Graduate School of Figurative Art at the New York Academy of Art. Upon graduating he and two business partners opened Daedalus Art Foundry, where he worked until 2000. He then built his own foundry and has continued to expand it, now housed in a 1,800 square foot building and capable of pouring 300 lbs of bronze. Tad has taught sculpture, life drawing and design at the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo, Owens Community College, Washtenaw Community College and Hillsdale College, and continues to pursue teaching part-time. He continues to seek private and public commissions and completed four monumental commissions between 1999 and 2007. In Tad's studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, there are always many projects in process at any given time. He enjoys modifying and restoring motorcycles, playing guitar, and traveling with his wife Jenny and daughters Maggie and Fiona.

Hello! I make Fairy Doors! These are little doors that you can place around your home to welcome in fairies and other fae folk (who will hopefully bring you good luck.) I make them all by hand out of clay and embellishments. There are other things I do/have tried, but my fairy doors have been the most successful so far. Glassblowing has been another favorite activity, but is quite costly. I have been an arts enthusiast for as long as I have been able to hold a crayon. When I was growing up I found that nothing could make me happier than experiencing or creating art, in all its forms. Now that I have done lots of experimenting with where I want to take my skills, I am (hopefully) ready to get my personal business up and running. A "regular job" can not compare to starting a business of your own when it comes to personal joy and freedom, at least for me, and I hope to get the opportunity to explore my options as a young artist in a competitive economy.
