  • 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios
    Outside Washtenaw County

    555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios mission is to enrich the arts in a diverse Metro-Detroit. 555 was founded in 2002 in Ann Arbor and migrated to Detroit in 2004. 555 promotes and develops the arts by providing artists and the public with opportunities and resources to make art and be engaged with the arts. 555 inspires creativity by transforming underutilized spaces into dynamic and diverse arts environments that provide artists and community members the freedom, flexibility, and resources needed to develop artwork within a communal and publicly accessible space. 555 facilitates the development of emerging artists through offering exhibition and installation space; hosting and supporting local, national, and international Residency Artists; leading and collaborating in the development of Educational programs for the visual and performing arts; providing Studios and workspace for practicing Local artists; and developing Public Arts programming. 555's Residency Program is intended to create a better, creatively driven city by providing space for arts and community dialogue. In addition, we provide rental studio space for local artists, who are able to engage with residents as both teachers and students. To meet our goals we have been working to establish a stable location that is affordable, accessible, flexible, and open to a diverse audience and membership.

    A cooperative non-profit ceramics studio with over 50 members. Range of work includes functional pottery, sculpture, tile work and wearable art. Two sales per year at the studio in late April and early December and at the Ann Arbor Art Fair. Two sets of ceramic classes for up to 15 students are offered twice a year.

    The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original is a non-profit 501(c)3 arts organization dedicated to increasing public knowledge and appreciation for contemporary fine arts and fine crafts by creating opportunities that connect artists, the Ann Arbor community and the general public to their mutual benefit, culminating in a top quality juried art fair. Begun in 1960, the award-winning Street Art Fair is the original of the now four art fairs that take place each July.

    The Arbor Art Festival is designed to increase public knowledge and appreciation for fine arts and fine crafts in Michigan. The festival will be hosted by and take place at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan. The University has a strong art program and an art gallery on its main campus. The University is known for a large Christmas event, Hanging of the Greens, with over 2,000 people attending. The Arbor Art Festival will be the University’s signature Spring event and will feature artists from all over Michigan and beyond.

    Blueprint was founded in March of 2010 when a group of like-minded students from across the engineering college recognized the need for an accessible medium through which students and faculty of the College could showcase their creativity in non-engineering subjects. This new organization, then called "CoE Literary Magazine," imagined an annual publication where members of the College could share their works of creative art with the rest of engineering community. Blueprint has since expanded its initiative to incorporate the three other schools on North Campus-The School of Art & Design, The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and The School of Music, Theater & Dance-to encourage the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas among members of the North Campus community.

    Gifts of Art brings the world of music and art to the University of Michigan Health System’s patients, visitors, staff and community. We offer a number of different programs, including nine changing exhibit galleries, weekly performances, an artist in residence program that brings art making activities to the bedsides of patients, Bedside Music, and a symphony orchestra for members of the U-M life sciences community (Life Sciences Orchestra), which performs two free concerts a year at Hill Auditorium. We also have the Friends Meditation Garden and an Art Cart, which brings colorful framed prints to patients at their bedsides so they can choose art for their rooms. We are an art glass studio and offer a variety of mosaic classes and workshops that include stained glass mosaics, mosaics with Italian smalti, and Dalle de Verre mosaics. All ages welcomed. As well, we operate an in-studio stained glass and supply shop for mosaic and stained glass artists. We sell sheets of glass by Youghiogheny, Uroboros, Bullseye, Wissmach, Spectrum, and others.
