When painting scenes of rural Washtenaw County I am attracted by its vivid imagery, especially found in farmsteads. Using a representational style, I strive to achieve a painterly quality. My landscapes capture horizontal sunlight and long shadows, dewy atmosphere, and seasonal changes. I'm especially interested in recording the elements of time’s impact on our lovely barns; highlighting their stateliness as they age.

My path is to assist individuals in accessing their creativity and life-vision. To do this, I teach contemplative practice (sitting meditation, tai chi, working with color, etc) and nature-based contemplative practice. I teach a 'Writer and Contemplative Practice' retreat at the GilChrist retreat center as well as a nature & mysticism retreat. I also teach these retreats in Northern Michigan in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Open to all who want to quest for deep vision with the assistance of the natural world. My work pertains to all the arts.
